Drive through any neighborhood in Highlands Ranch, and sure enough you'll find a park.

May 18 saw the dedication of the newest park in Highlands Ranch - Red-tail Park.

"We do a dedication each time we open a new park," said Sherry Eppers, Metro Districts of Highlands Ranch community relations manager. Highlands Ranch currently has a total of 21 parks.

And what would a dedication for Red-tail park be without a red-tailed hawk?

Courtesy of HawkQuest, a nonprofit organization based in Parker, residents witnessed a live red-tailed hawk and great horned owl in all their glory. HawkQuest volunteers Deb Drenth and Jean Vore displayed the hawk and owl, respectively.
