A bald eagle returns the stares of second- and third-grade students Monday at Columbia Elementary School in Las Cruces, N.M. It was one of the raptors shown to the students to educate them about birds of prey, which also included a hawk, falcon, and owl and their interaction in nature.

A spectacled owl takes in its surroundings Monday as second- and third-graders at Columbia Elementary School learn how it interacts in nature. It was one of the birds of prey brought to the school by HawkQuest, a nonprofit organization that teaches people about raptors and their role in the environment.
